Ahead of the fourth SA20 season, Sunrisers Eastern Cape captain Tristan Stubbs pledged to uphold the team’s winning culture after Aiden Markram’s departure, who led the franchise to two titles and finals in each of the first three seasons.
Stubbs, 25, highlighted the strong bond local players from Port Elizabeth share with St George’s Park, calling the home crowd’s passion unmatched.
Markram, a key all-rounder, scored 967 runs and took 17 wickets in 36 matches.
Stubbs, with 723 runs in 36 matches at a 140.11 strike rate, aims to lead the team forward.
The season begins December 26 with MI Cape Town vs. Durban Super Giants, followed by Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s opener against Paarl Royals on December 27.
