South Korea’s president will return to the historic Blue House on Dec. 29, 2025, ending a three-year move to Yongsan.
South Korea’s presidential office will return to Cheong Wa Dae, the historic Blue House in Seoul, at midnight on December 29, 2025, ending a nearly three-year relocation to Yongsan.
The move, fulfilling a pledge by President Lee Jae Myung, includes lowering the Phoenix Flag at the Yongsan site and raising it at Cheong Wa Dae, with the office name reverting to Cheong Wa Dae.
The Blue House has been the presidential seat since 1948, though it was moved to Yongsan in May 2022 under former President Yoon Suk-yeol, who opened the original site to the public.
