A South Carolina man died and a passenger was critically injured in a high-speed Ohio crash that left power lines down.

A 28-year-old South Carolina man, Connor Walchle, died and a passenger remains in critical condition after a high-speed crash Wednesday morning in Sycamore Township, Ohio. The 2007 Toyota Corolla he was driving struck a Mercedes, left the road, hit a curb, and became airborne, crashing into trees and utility poles that brought down power lines. Both occupants were trapped and rescued by emergency crews; Walchle died from his injuries. The Mercedes driver was unharmed. Montgomery Road remains closed as crews restore power. The crash is under investigation.
