Seven puppies rescued from a freezing box in Manitoba survived after frostbite injuries and medical care.

Seven five-week-old puppies were rescued from a sealed box in freezing temperatures near Steinbach, Manitoba, on December 13, after being abandoned in near -40 C wind chill. Found huddled for warmth, one lost its tail to frostbite and another suffered paw damage, but all survived after immediate medical care, including IV fluids. The volunteer-run Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue took them in, placing them in foster homes. The shelter, which has helped over 400 animals in 2025, is seeking donations and foster homes as the puppies recover and prepare for adoption in early 2026.
