RSF and Sudanese Alliance claim control of key North Darfur towns amid ongoing conflict with SAF.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and Sudan Founding Alliance claim to have captured Abu Gamra and Um Baru in North Darfur, asserting they are restoring order and protecting civilians after clashes with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Joint Force.
They say they’ve secured roads and public areas in Kerenyi locality and plan to hand over security to the Federal Police and allow humanitarian aid.
The RSF now controls all Darfur states except parts of North Darfur, while the SAF holds most of Sudan, including Khartoum.
The conflict, ongoing since April 2023, has killed thousands and displaced millions, with worsening humanitarian conditions and UN calls for accountability amid continued arms flows.
No comment was issued by the SAF or RSF on recent developments.
