Pinconning’s Police Chief Terry Spencer retires Jan. 6, 2026, succeeded by Corporal Gregg Nieten.
Pinconning Police Chief Terry M. Spencer will step down on January 6, 2026, after nearly 20 years with the department, including four as chief.
He will transition to a part-time captain role.
Corporal Gregg Nieten, who joined in 2022 after serving as a Gratiot County deputy sheriff, will succeed him.
Spencer is credited with rebuilding the department after years of mismanagement, securing over $50,000 in grants and donations.
A public swearing-in ceremony is set for 4 p.m. at City Hall.
The city also announced it will begin contracting emergency medical services through Patriot Ambulance.
