Nvidia to buy AI chipmaker Groq for $20B to boost AI inference capabilities.
Nvidia has agreed to acquire AI chip startup Groq in a $20 billion deal, announced on December 24, 2025, as part of a strategic move to strengthen its dominance in AI inference.
The acquisition, structured as a licensing agreement to address antitrust concerns, includes Groq’s technology, intellectual property, and key personnel, notably CEO Jonathan Ross.
While Groq will continue operating independently under new leadership, its low-latency Language Processing Unit (LPU) technology will be integrated into Nvidia’s AI infrastructure to enhance real-time AI processing.
The deal reflects Nvidia’s broader effort to secure leadership across the entire AI pipeline amid rising competition from tech giants and chipmakers.
Nvidia comprará el fabricante de chips de IA Groq por $ 20 mil millones para aumentar las capacidades de inferencia de AI.
