Newport Sands beach in Wales stays car-free in 2025–2026 for safety and environmental reasons, with access limited to emergency and rescue vehicles.
Newport Sands beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales, will remain car-free in 2025 and 2026 after the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park upheld a 2023 ban citing safety and environmental concerns.
Only emergency services, RNLI, and coastguard personnel may use vehicles.
A petition challenging the ban, citing impacts on disabled visitors, prompted park upgrades including a new access ramp, steps, a wheelchair storage building, and expanded parking with 52 spaces and more disabled spots.
The park says these improvements enhance accessibility without allowing general vehicle access.
