New Zealand's NPD and Gull are merging to form the country’s largest independent fuel company, pending approval.
New Zealand fuel providers NPD and Gull are merging to create the country’s largest independent, majority Kiwi-owned fuel company, pending Commerce Commission approval.
The combined entity, operating 240 sites from Invercargill to Kaitaia, will retain both brands and aim to lower pump prices through shared supply chains, a combined annual fuel volume of one billion litres, and reduced redundancies.
Barry Sheridan, CEO of NPD, will lead the new group, which will be equally owned by the Sheridan family and Australasian private equity firm Allegro Funds.
The merger, expected to enhance efficiency and competitiveness, follows both companies’ long-standing commitment to affordability.
A formal application for approval is expected in January 2026.
