Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored Bharat Ratna Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya on his 164th birth anniversary, December 25, 2025, recognizing his pivotal role in India’s independence movement, education reform, and social upliftment.
Modi highlighted Malaviya’s founding of Banaras Hindu University in 1916, his efforts to end the Indian indenture system, and his promotion of national unity and values.
Born in 1861 in Allahabad, Malaviya, a scholar, journalist, and nationalist, was posthumously awarded India’s highest civilian honor in 2014.
