A woman endured over five hours on the floor in a Kent hospital’s ER without care, amid systemic delays.
A 61-year-old diabetic woman, Juliet Caryl, said she spent over five hours lying on the floor of William Harvey Hospital’s A&E in Ashford on December 12, 2025, in severe pain and vomiting, with staff repeatedly ignoring her despite being brought in by ambulance.
She received no pain relief, food, or drink, and a nearby bed remained unused.
She was eventually treated for a urinary tract infection but said she received no apology.
The East Kent Hospitals Trust acknowledged the distress, noting only 57.9% of A&E patients were seen within the NHS four-hour target, with over 1,100 patients waiting more than 12 hours for a bed in November.
Winter pressures are expected to worsen delays.
