USMNT defender Chris Richards was stretchered off Crystal Palace’s Carabao Cup quarterfinal against Arsenal on Tuesday after a foot injury in the 73rd minute, requiring stitches. Coach Oliver Glasner said the injury isn’t serious, but Richards is doubtful for the upcoming match against Tottenham and may return for the Jan. 1 game against Fulham. The match ended 1-1, with Arsenal advancing via a penalty shootout. Richards, 25, has 35 caps and three goals for the U.S. national team. His injury follows a season-ending knee tear for teammate Tyler Adams. The U.S. will play friendlies against Belgium and Portugal in March before beginning 2026 World Cup qualifying against Paraguay on June 12.
