A Red Hat server breach exposed personal data of 21,000 Nissan Fukuoka customers in Japan, with Crimson Collective claiming responsibility.
A cyberattack on a Red Hat server compromised personal data of about 21,000 Nissan Fukuoka customers in Japan, including names, addresses, phone numbers, and partial email addresses, Nissan confirmed.
The breach, detected in September and reported to Nissan in October, did not expose credit card information.
Red Hat, owned by IBM, said attackers accessed a GitLab instance and stole nearly 570 GB of data, with a group called Crimson Collective claiming responsibility.
This marks Nissan’s third major data incident in recent years, prompting the company to strengthen subcontractor oversight and cybersecurity.
