On December 24, 2025, Corshawnda Hatter and her two children received holiday gifts and a $650 donation from rapper Lil Zay Osama and the Roseland Cease Fire Project after they were seriously attacked in South Deering, Illinois, near Orville Bright Elementary School. The Nov. 17 incident, captured on video, left Hatter and her son hospitalized with lasting injuries, including permanent fertility loss. Seven minors, ages 10 to 13, were charged with misdemeanor battery and referred to counseling.
