Oklahoma court upholds Horton’s life sentence for child abuse; Harper sentenced to life in separate case.
The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld the 2024 conviction of Issac Leroy Horton, who was sentenced to life in prison with parole eligibility after serving 85% of his sentence for child sexual abuse.
Horton, arrested in March 2021 with a $100,000 bond, faced multiple trial delays.
In a separate case, Elga Eugene Harper, a 43-year-old Choctaw Nation member, was sentenced to life in prison for a 2022 sexual assault and kidnapping of an elderly woman in Indian Country, though his initial conviction was overturned in October 2024.
The victim died in February 2024.
