Luzerne County to vote on renewing workers’ comp insurance, saving $50K over two years.
Luzerne County Council will hold a special meeting on December 29 to vote on a two-year renewal of its workers’ compensation insurance, expected to save the county over $50,000.
The deal lowers annual premiums from $155,011 to $129,501, with savings of $25,510 per year.
Approval is required because the agreement extends into 2027, when no budget has been adopted, and exceeds the $25,000 threshold for future obligations under the county’s home rule charter.
The 6 p.m. meeting will be held via Zoom with in-person options at the Wilkes-Barre courthouse, and remote access details will be posted online.
