A Leger poll shows most Canadians are uncertain about 2026, with rising mental health despite economic and global worries.
A Leger poll conducted Dec. 19–21, 2025, found 35% of Canadians are optimistic about 2026, while 37% expect it to be similar to 2025 and 22% think it will be worse.
The online survey of 1,523 respondents, which lacks a margin of error due to non-random sampling, reflects concerns over economic challenges, global conflicts, and climate disasters.
Despite this, 86% reported good mental health in 2025—up from 79% in 2020—with Quebec residents and those aged 55+ reporting higher rates.
Younger adults (18–34) were more optimistic about the future than older groups.
Common descriptors for 2025 included “uncertain,” “turbulent,” and “exhausting.” Most agree Canada feels culturally different now, and while 71% felt discouraged by others, 68% also felt pride.
Una encuesta de Leger muestra que la mayoría de los canadienses están inciertos sobre 2026, con un aumento de la salud mental a pesar de las preocupaciones económicas y globales.
