A Jammu and Kashmir court attached 1.5 kanals of land belonging to U.S.-based separatist Ghulam Nabi Fai for failing to appear despite summons.
A special NIA court in Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the attachment of over 1.5 kanals of land belonging to Ghulam Nabi Fai, a 76-year-old U.S.-based Kashmiri separatist lobbyist, following his failure to appear in court despite being summoned.
The property, located in villages Wadwan and Chattabugh, was seized under Section 85 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita after Fai was declared a proclaimed absconder in April 2025.
The move stems from a 2020 FIR under the UAPA, alleging his involvement in separatist activities, funding terrorist groups, and acting as an unregistered agent of Pakistan’s ISI.
Fai, previously convicted in the U.S. in 2012 for conspiracy and tax violations, had served a two-year prison sentence and was released in 2013.
The court found evidence he intentionally evaded legal process.
The Budgam district collector has been directed to take possession of the land with support from revenue and police authorities.
