Eight GRA employees arrested in Guyana over alleged vehicle tax scheme with auto importer.
Eight Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) employees, including customs and licensing officers, were arrested in a December 24, 2025, raid at GRA headquarters over allegations of a vehicle tax evasion scheme.
Authorities allege the officers colluded with a major auto importer, BM Soat Auto Sales, to under-declare vehicle details like engine size and value, evading taxes.
The probe, ongoing and led by the Guyana Police Force’s CID, follows previous cases involving GRA corruption.
The GRA has not released specifics on the number of arrests, financial losses, or the status of court proceedings.
