A Delaware state trooper was killed Tuesday afternoon in a shooting at a DMV office in New Castle County, near Wilmington. Authorities responded to an active shooter incident, which was resolved when the suspect, a 44-year-old man, was fatally shot by a responding officer. The trooper, working overtime, was shot at a reception desk and reportedly pushed a DMV employee to safety before being fatally wounded. Two women were treated for minor, non-gunshot injuries, and another trooper sustained a minor non-gunshot injury. The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles closed all its offices statewide. The motive and suspect’s identity remain under investigation, and officials confirmed no ongoing threat to the public.
