The Carlisle Southern Link Road, delayed by weather, will now open in spring 2026 to connect the M6 and A595.
The Carlisle Southern Link Road, intended to ease traffic and boost connectivity, will now fully open in spring 2026 due to weather-related delays affecting construction.
Originally slated for completion by summer 2024, the project has seen significant progress, including four roundabouts, three bridges, six footbridges, 14 km of shared-use paths, 43 km of drainage, and 780,000 cubic meters of earth moved.
The road will connect the M6 to the A595, supporting economic growth and the future St Cuthbert's Garden Village development of 10,000 sustainable homes.
The council confirmed the revised timeline and thanked the public for their patience.
