The law, aimed at preventing future abuse, responds to over 1,000 lawsuits since 2020 under AB 218, which extended the statute of limitations for survivors to sue until age 40 or later, resulting in billions in claims and major verdicts, including a $135 million judgment.
The law applies to all public and private K-12 schools and takes effect by July 1.
