Conservative candidate Honveer Singh Randhawa has dropped his lawsuit challenging the 2024 Surrey-Guildford election result, where NDP’s Garry Begg won by 22 votes.
Randhawa cited administrative errors, including non-residents voting and seniors at a care home casting ballots without awareness, and said he withdrew to spare elderly individuals distress.
While Elections B.C.
confirmed no election law violations affected the outcome, it acknowledged minor procedural issues.
Randhawa urged a resumed review and extension of the 30-day complaint deadline, noting the legal process cost over $200,000.
The province maintains the election was free, fair, and secure.
