AirTrunk invests $3.33B in a Melbourne data center, boosting Australia’s AI infrastructure and jobs.
AirTrunk, a Blackstone-backed data center company, plans a $3.33 billion investment to build a new hyperscale facility in Melbourne, Australia, expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
The project, part of a $7 billion regional infrastructure push, will add over 354MW of capacity, bringing its total Melbourne capacity to more than 630MW across two campuses.
Once complete, AirTrunk will operate five campuses in Australia with over 1.2GW of capacity.
The expansion, driven by rising demand for AI and cloud infrastructure, supports Australia’s goal to become a global AI hub and is expected to create thousands of jobs.
The company also recently launched a facility in Osaka, Japan, and continues to expand its platform across six markets with over 2.6GW of capacity.
