A 61-year-old Atlanta housing official was indicted for allegedly stealing over $63,000 in fraudulently obtained housing and pandemic relief funds.

Tracy Denise Jones, a 61-year-old senior executive at the Atlanta Housing Authority, has been indicted on federal charges for allegedly defrauding government programs of over $63,000. Prosecutors say she used a false identity, shell companies, and fabricated documents to obtain more than $36,000 in Section 8 housing benefits for her rental property and family members, and over $27,000 in pandemic relief funds by falsely claiming her businesses were operational. She is also accused of mortgage fraud and obstructing justice by submitting false affidavits and pressuring associates to lie. Jones, who oversaw the Housing Choice Voucher Program since 2017, faces multiple charges including conspiracy, wire fraud, and credit application fraud. The Atlanta Housing Authority has declined to comment as the case remains ongoing.
