The U.S. honored India’s SDRF for rescuing stranded Americans and foreigners in the Himalayas.

The U.S. Embassy has honored Uttarakhand’s State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) with a memento and certificate for rescuing American and other foreign nationals stranded in remote, high-altitude areas of the Himalayas. Operations led by Commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi included rescues on Mount Chaukhamba, in Badrinath’s Vasudhara region, and at Gangotri, showcasing the SDRF’s expertise in challenging terrain. The recognition highlights the force’s swift, coordinated response and commitment to safety, boosting its global reputation and underscoring India’s growing role in international disaster response.
