Union Home Minister Amit Shah to open Rs 217 crore cultural project in Assam on Dec. 29, transforming saint Sankardeva’s birthplace into a spiritual and tourism hub.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the Rs 217 crore Batadrava Cultural Project in Nagaon, Assam, on December 29, 2025, transforming the birthplace of saint Srimanta Sankardeva into a major spiritual and tourism site.
The project, built on 162 bighas of land reclaimed from encroachments, features modern infrastructure inspired by Assamese culture, including a world’s tallest Guru Asana and structures shaped like traditional instruments.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the site on December 22 to oversee final preparations, emphasizing timely completion and smooth execution.
The event will also mark the launch of a new police commissioner’s office, a CCTV system in Guwahati, and several cultural facilities.
