Tyler Roehl is returning to Iowa State as offensive coordinator after one season with the Detroit Lions, where he coached tight ends. He previously served as assistant head coach and running backs coach during the Cyclones’ 11-3 2024 season, which included a Big 12 Championship game appearance, a bowl victory, and a No. 15 national ranking. Under Roehl’s guidance, Iowa State set a school record with 27 rushing touchdowns and averaged 31.1 points and 416.2 yards per game. A North Dakota native, Roehl played at North Dakota State, earned two Academic All-American honors, and spent 11 years there, helping lead the Bison to multiple FCS titles. Head coach Jimmy Rogers praised Roehl’s leadership and innovative offensive schemes. Roehl will remain with the Lions through the 2025 season before rejoining Iowa State.
