A Texas woman was arrested for smuggling methamphetamine in alcohol at the Pharr border bridge.

A 31-year-old woman from Pharr, Texas, was arrested on December 7 after methamphetamine was found hidden in alcohol containers at the Pharr International Bridge. Sandy Jennifer Treviño, who entered the U.S. on November 20, declared she was bringing in alcohol, but a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission officer discovered a case of ready-to-drink tequila cocktails exceeding the state’s one-gallon-per-30-day limit. The liquid had crystallized during disposal preparation, leading to a field test confirming methamphetamine. She faces a first-degree felony charge, punishable by 5 to 99 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines. The case is ongoing.
