India built 74 new military bases in 2025 to combat Naxal insurgency, part of a push to end Left Wing Extremism by 2026.
The Central Reserve Police Force has established 229 Forward Operating Bases in Naxal-affected areas since 2019, with 74 built in 2025 alone, as part of a government strategy to eliminate Left Wing Extremism by March 2026.
These bases, spread across six states, enhance security presence, improve response times, and support development projects in remote regions.
Since 2018, the number of affected districts has dropped from 126 to 11, and LWE-related incidents fell 89% from their 2010 peak.
Violence-related deaths declined 91%, and in 2025, security forces neutralized 335 insurgents, arrested 942, and facilitated 2,167 surrenders.
Twenty-seven districts remain under special security focus to prevent resurgence.
