Hainan Free Trade Port launched zero-carbon industrial parks with renewable energy and smart grids, aligning with new customs reforms.
Hainan Free Trade Port in southern China has launched a phased initiative to develop zero-carbon industrial parks, aiming to transition designated zones to low- and zero-carbon operations through integrated renewable energy systems, including wind, solar, biomass, and nuclear power, supported by energy storage, green power connections, and smart microgrids.
The plan promotes carbon-reduction technologies like CCUS, advances green manufacturing, improves building efficiency, and introduces smart carbon management platforms.
It coincides with the launch of island-wide special customs operations in Hainan FTP—the world’s largest free trade port by area—expanding zero-tariff coverage and easing import rules for overseas goods.
