Dubbo’s Taronga Western Plains Zoo has reintroduced siamangs to the area for the first time in over two years, welcoming male Kasem from Christchurch, New Zealand, and female Kasarna.
After a 30-day quarantine and gradual introduction, the pair bonded quickly, overcoming initial hesitation from Kasem to cross a water barrier with Kasarna’s encouragement.

While breeding is possible, keepers are focused on the pair’s growing companionship and natural behaviors.
