A Delhi airport passenger alleges an off-duty pilot assaulted him over a queue dispute, leading to an injury and police investigation.
Ankit Dewan, a passenger at Delhi’s Terminal 1, says a CT scan confirmed a displaced fracture of his left nasal bone after he alleges he was assaulted by off-duty Air India Express pilot Virender Sejwal on December 19.
Dewan, who filed a complaint with Delhi Police, claims the incident began over a queue-cutting dispute, leading to verbal abuse and physical violence that also affected his daughter.
Police have registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, citing charges including voluntarily causing hurt and wrongful restraint, and are reviewing CCTV footage.
Air India Express has suspended Sejwal and pledged cooperation, while Sejwal’s legal team denies the allegations, calling the incident a personal dispute and claiming both parties signed a statement not to pursue legal action.
The investigation is ongoing.
