The Town of Adams has ended its relationship with Police Chief K. Scott Kelley, who was placed on paid leave in September and is no longer with the department, though the town has not disclosed the reason.
Kelley, who earned $115,172 annually and had a contract through 2026, is reportedly selling his home.
Acting Police Chief Timothy Sorrell, a 33-year veteran from Lanesborough, was appointed in October under a three-month contract.
Meanwhile, Pittsfield Police Chief Thomas Dawley will retire on January 9 after 24 years, including two as chief, citing it as the right time to step down.
A replacement will be selected in the coming weeks.
