Malaysian rapper Namewee acquitted of drug charge Dec. 22; still faces ecstasy possession trial Jan. 19, 2026, and is under probe in influencer's death.
Malaysian rapper Namewee, 42, was acquitted on December 22, 2025, of a drug use charge after a negative urine test led the prosecution to withdraw the case.
The Kuala Lumpur Magistrates' Court granted a full acquittal, returning his RM2,000 bail.
He remains charged with possession of 5.12 grams of ecstasy, set for a hearing on January 19, 2026.
The case stems from his October 22 arrest at a Kuala Lumpur hotel, where police found nine pills suspected to be ecstasy.
Namewee is also under investigation in connection with the murder of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, who died in the same hotel on the same day.
Authorities have found no evidence linking him to her death, and his bail remains extended pending toxicology and post-mortem results.
