Kenya upgrades power grid with new 132kV line to boost reliability and energy access.
President William Ruto has commissioned the 65-kilometer, 132kV Lessos–Kabarnet Transmission Line in Kenya, replacing an outdated 33kV system to improve electricity reliability in Baringo and Elgeyo-Marakwet counties.
The project, part of a Sh1.5 billion investment, enhances grid stability, reduces outages, and supports integration of geothermal, hydropower, and wind energy.
It enables stable power for hospitals, schools, businesses, and industries, boosting economic growth and job creation.
