Ian Hudspeth, former Oxfordshire council leader, died at 65; honored with OBE for public service.
Ian Hudspeth OBE, former Oxfordshire County Council leader who served from 2012 to 2021, has died at 65.
He passed away peacefully at his home in Bladon near Woodstock, where he lived with his wife and daughter.
A long-time public servant, Hudspeth was first elected to the council in 2005 and previously served on Bladon Parish Council and West Oxfordshire District Council.
He was awarded an OBE in 2021 for his contributions.
Tributes have been shared by local officials, including council leader Liz Leffman, Deputy Chief Executive Lorna Baxter, and MPs Layla Moran and Anneliese Dodds, who praised his dedication, approachability, and leadership.
A book of condolence has been opened by the Oxford Mail, and formal tributes will be made at the council’s next meeting in 2026.
