Ghana will prosecute Wontumi Farms and its directors for fraud, forgery, and misusing over GH₵24 million in public funds.
Ghana’s Attorney-General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, announced that Wontumi Farms Limited and its directors will be prosecuted for fraud, forgery, and misappropriation of public funds, resulting in a state loss exceeding GH₵24 million.
The company falsely claimed a GH₵4 million equipment purchase using a forged receipt altered from a proforma invoice, despite no payment being made.
Investigations revealed the farm project was never operational, no workers existed, and the loan was disbursed without proper verification.
The company was not registered when it applied, and no land was secured as required.
Prosecution follows a thorough EOCO investigation, with the trial expected to begin in January 2026.
