BUMA Australia, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s PT BUMA Internasional Grup Tbk, has won a AU$740 million contract extension to provide pre-strip mining services at Whitehaven Coal’s Blackwater Mine in Queensland, Australia, through June 2030.
The deal, effective since 2012, underscores BUMA’s long-term role at one of Australia’s largest metallurgical coal operations in the Bowen Basin.
The company employs around 390 permanent staff, uses advanced monitoring and optimization technologies, and supports local employment, including First Nations programs and community initiatives.
