Uttarakhand mandates Bhagavad Gita recitation in schools to promote values and unity.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that reciting verses from the Bhagavad Gita will now be mandatory in all state schools to promote cultural values, moral development, and national unity. He highlighted the Kattarmal Sun Temple’s historical and spiritual significance and encouraged winter visits. Dhami also emphasized the importance of cultural events like Mahakauthig in preserving traditions and strengthening ties with the diaspora, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to enforcing laws against religious conversion, divisive ideologies, and land encroachment.
