Three men jailed for ₹1 crore fraud in rural jobs scheme; five others convicted in separate child rape case.
A CBI court in Lucknow sentenced three individuals—Satyendra Singh Gangwar, Ashok Kumar Upadhyay, and Raghunath Yadav—to five years in prison and imposed a combined fine of ₹77,000 for their roles in a ₹1 crore fraud under the Sampurna Grameen Rozgar Yojna.
The court found them guilty of cheating, forgery, and destruction of records, including misappropriation of ₹75.12 lakh in cash and ₹31.10 lakh in food grains.
The CBI took over the case in 2008 from Ballia police, initially involving 135 accused, and filed charges in 2010.
In a separate case, a Bulandshahr special judge convicted five people in a child gang rape case, including charges of rape, dacoity, and wrongful confinement, following a CBI probe ordered by the Allahabad High Court.
