Punjab police raided 494 drug sites, arrested 153, seized drugs, and cracked a trafficking network on Dec. 21, 2025.
On December 21, 2025, Punjab Police conducted a major anti-drug operation across all 28 districts, raiding 494 drug hotspots from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. as part of the ongoing 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' campaign.
Over 700 police teams and 5,000 personnel, led by DGP Gaurav Yadav, arrested 153 people, filed 132 FIRs, and seized 1.5 kg heroin, 1 kg opium, 500 g ganja, 5 kg poppy husk, 1,310 intoxicant tablets, and ₹32,000 in drug cash.
Checks were also carried out at 173 bus stands and 120 railway stations.
The operation follows prior arrests in Amritsar involving 4.5 kg heroin and a pistol linked to a foreign handler.
A government sub-committee led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema oversees the drive, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann pushing for a drug-free Punjab.
Authorities continue probing broader trafficking networks.
