Jitan Ram Manjhi demands a Rajya Sabha seat for his party, claiming BJP broke a 2024 election promise.
Jitan Ram Manjhi, former Bihar CM and Union minister leading Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), has demanded a Rajya Sabha seat for his party, alleging the BJP broke a promise made during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking in Gaya on December 21, 2025, he said HAM, which holds one Lok Sabha seat, deserves a Rajya Sabha berth as part of an NDA agreement.
Manjhi warned the alliance could unravel if the demand is unmet, though he clarified he is not an official party leader.
He emphasized HAM’s regional support, particularly among the Musahar community, and suggested the party may reconsider its political path.
His remarks follow reports that BJP and JD(U) are expected to claim two Rajya Sabha seats each, with one going to Chirag Paswan’s LJP.
