Interpol dropped Pakistan’s extradition request for PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari, citing no international warrant needed.
Interpol has dropped Pakistan’s extradition request for PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari, ending its investigation and removing all related alerts from its system.
The decision follows a two-year review, with Interpol’s General Secretariat stating Bukhari is no longer wanted under any international mechanism.
Pakistan had sought a red notice in 2023, alleging Bukhari’s involvement in terrorism and financial crimes linked to the Al-Qadir Trust and violence near Islamabad’s judicial complex.
His legal team argued the case was politically driven, violating Interpol’s rules against politically motivated requests.
This follows a similar 2024 decision dismissing a red notice request for PTI leader Moonis Elahi, highlighting increasing international skepticism over Pakistan’s use of Interpol for political purposes.
