A hit-and-run in Urbana killed a 22-year-old and injured a police officer; the suspect remains at large.

A hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning at the intersection of Green Street and Mathews Avenue near the Illini Union in Urbana, Illinois, killed 22-year-old Perry Lee and injured a University of Illinois police officer. The incident occurred around 2:13 a.m. when a red Buick Verano traveling the wrong way on a one-way street collided with a UIPD patrol car, sending the vehicle onto a sidewalk and striking Lee, who died at Carle Hospital. The suspect fled on foot and remains at large. Authorities, including the Urbana Police Department, UIPD, and Illinois State Police, are investigating, and are urging witnesses or tipsters to contact them. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death.
