A Glasgow man was jailed for 46 weeks after sexually assaulting four Jet2 flight attendants on a 2024 flight diverted to Portugal.
Joseph McCabe, 40, of Glasgow, was sentenced to 46 weeks in prison and placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting four Jet2 cabin crew members on a flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife on March 15, 2024.
The flight, carrying 110 passengers, was diverted to Porto Santo, Portugal, after McCabe groped, slapped, and made inappropriate remarks to crew members, ripped up a warning notice, threw his bank card at staff, and danced in the aisle.
Portuguese authorities arrested him upon landing.
McCabe, a former Royal Logistic Corps private and construction company owner, cited heavy drinking due to a family bereavement.
He received a lifetime ban from flying with Jet2 and refused to pay a £5,000 fine.
Sheriff Alison Stirling called the offenses highly culpable and harmful, and issued indefinite non-harassment orders against the victims.
The flight landed in Tenerife two hours late.
