Ghana launches 99th LEAP cycle, disbursing $139M to 350K households amid ongoing delivery challenges.
Ghana has launched the 99th cycle of its LEAP cash grant program, disbursing GH¢139.3 million starting December 22, 2025, to support about 350,580 households—around 1.5 million people—with bi-monthly payments of GH¢320 to GH¢530.
The government allocated GH¢1.1 billion for LEAP in 2025, the highest in its history, with plans to expand coverage to 400,000 households by 2026.
The program, part of the government’s Reset Agenda, aids extremely poor families with essentials like food, healthcare, and education, and includes health insurance benefits.
Despite positive impacts on school enrollment and food security, implementation has been inconsistent, with only one of twelve payment cycles delivered on time between 2023 and 2024, leaving over a million poor Ghanaians still unserved.
