CUPE rejects Ontario’s $15M health funding pledge, calling it insufficient and already budgeted, warning of future cuts.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) dismissed Ontario’s $15 million funding announcement for the North Bay Regional Health Centre as a "cynical ploy," saying the money was already in the hospital’s budget and offers no real relief from financial pressures.
The union criticized the government’s two percent annual funding cap through 2027–2028, warning it will lead to job cuts and service reductions in North Bay, Hamilton, Ottawa, and other communities.
The funds, including operational support and bed capacity funding, were previously one-time allocations now made permanent.
CUPE plans a rally outside MPP Vic Fedeli’s office to demand sustainable, long-term funding increases.
CUPE rechaza la promesa de financiamiento de salud de $15M de Ontario, calificándola de insuficiente y ya presupuestada, advirtiendo de futuros recortes.
