Chicago Blackhawks' Frank Nazar to miss four weeks after being hit in the jaw by a puck.
Chicago Blackhawks center Frank Nazar is expected to miss about four weeks after being struck in the face by a puck during a 6-4 loss to the Ottawa Senators.
The injury occurred when a shot from Jordan Spence deflected off teammate Tyler Bertuzzi’s stick and hit Nazar in the jaw, causing a visible gash.
Nazar, who had six goals and 15 assists this season, is under a seven-year, $46.13 million contract.
His absence adds to the team’s struggles, as star center Connor Bedard remains out with a shoulder injury.
The Blackhawks have lost five straight games and seven of eight, including a winless road trip to Canada, and now face increased pressure on their depth.
They return home to face the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.
