UK pensioners denied higher PIP mobility rate due to age may get up to £308 backpay after legal change.
UK pensioners who received the standard PIP mobility rate between April 8, 2013, and November 20, 2020, may now qualify for backdated payments of up to £308 after a legal change corrected a rule that wrongly denied the enhanced rate based on age, even with new medical evidence.
The Department for Work and Pensions is allowing reassessments for those over State Pension age who were denied the higher rate due to age, provided they had a health assessment and did not report a change in circumstances.
The enhanced rate is £77.05 weekly.
Affected individuals can apply by contacting the DWP or visiting GOV.UK.
The change does not affect existing awards or tribunal decisions.
